Joe Colombo
Joe Colombo is an architect from Milan and a designer. Born in 1930 in Milan, he studied first at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts and then at the Polytechnic of Milan. Initially he began his career in the artistic sector, joined the Nuclear Movement and took part in various exhibitions. Since 1961 he has dedicated himself to design, opening his own design studio in Milan. At the XIII Triennale in Milan he gets the Gold Medal. This will be followed by several other prestigious awards. His activity as a designer has developed in three directions: the interior design for private homes and shops, the setting up of exhibition stands and exhibitions, product design. Joe Colombo was the author of housing systems that revolutionized the traditional concept of living by becoming a leading figure in Italy in the 1960s. He died early in 1971 in Milan. For the Stilnovo brand Joe Colombo designs the Minitopo and Triedro lamps.
