 The Tolomeo table lamp designed in 1987 by Italian designers Michele De Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina is still very much loved today and stands out for its design and functionality. De Lucchi designed the Tolomeo table lamp finding inspiration from observing some fishermen using "trabucchi", old fishing machines in which a big fishing net is supported by wooden beams and ropes. Needing to hide the electric wire, De Lucchi thought to integrate it inside the tubular structure of the lamp, together to the springs. It was instantly a great success, winning numerous prestigious awards and prizes including the Compasso d'Oro and the iF Design Award. The charm of this lamp continues today and Artemide produces about half a million of Tolomeo per year. After the first table version, more than 30 years ago, a whole family of table lamps was created to meet all needs.
