Alessandro Mendini
Alessandro Mendini, Milanese designer and architect, who has always been passionate about writing as well as drawing, for many years held the position of editor of a series of magazines such as Casabella, Modo and Domus. His artistic and design work includes numerous neo-modern architectural works, objects, furnishings, prototypes, industrial products, paintings and installations distinguished by an interdisciplinary nature. In 1979 and 1981 he won the Golden Compass for design, was made a Knight of Arts and Letters in France, received an honour from the Architectural League of New York, received an honorary degree from the Milan Polytechnic and the École Normale Supérieure of Cachan in France. Alessandro Mendini is a design consultant and designs products for various companies, some of them in Asia. His works are present in numerous museums and private collections around the world. For Artemide Mendini designs the collection of Edge lamps, wall lamps and cube-shaped chandeliers, designed for the lighting of modern environments.
