Giovanni Barbato was born in Padua-Italy on October 24th, 1974, and is considered one of the most accomplished designers in the landscape of lighting. After attending the University of Architecture in Venice and a course in Industrial Design in Padua, his passion for glass has led him to study at the Abate Zanetti school of Murano, where he establishes friendships and collaborations with the first glass factories, starting very young to sign projects with leading companies in the lighting industry. He collaborates with Vistosi, Axolight, De Majo, Av Mazzega, Prandina and Av Light, and in 2013 he wins the Good Design Award, establishing himself on the scene of Italian lighting design. For Vistosi he realizes "Sphere", a lamps collection with self-propelled spheric lampshades, suitable to be installed as a single item or in a multiple composition. The diffusers are in blown glass and can be directed, thanks to the unique metal frame. The "Chimera" collection stems from the idea of a transparent body that filters light, hiding the bulb in the center of a diffuser in frosted glass. The "Aurea" collection is characterized by the pentagons of white glass that form it, synthesizing science, art and crafts in a single pendant lamp. Inspiration comes from the spherical shape of a type of carbon molecules: the fullerenes.
