James Wines
James Wines is a world-renowned sculptor, known as a leading exponent of environmental design and organic architecture. With a 1956 BA in Architecture from Syracuse University, James has directed architectural projects and research, lectured in hundreds of universities and written numerous essays for books and magazines around the world.In 2013, James was honored with the National Design Award for Lifetime Achievement. As president and founder of SITE, an architecture, environmental art and design group born in 1970 in New York, James designed more than 150 buildings in 11 states and received 25 art and design awards. Its focus is the fusion of art, architecture and landscape in the surrounding context. Currently, James is a professor of architecture at Penn State University and continues to write and lecture internationally on integrative thinking and environmental issues. The story between Foscarini and James Wines unfolds over almost thirty years, which began in 1991 with "Table Light / Wall light" and resumed years later thanks to an extensive monographic article in Inventario. From here, Foscarini decided to transform the project into a small series collection of lamps and objects.
