Tom Dixon

Tom Dixon is a world-renowned designer, known for his unconventional creativity and for his rebellious and unconventional personality. Born in Sfax, Tunisia, in 1959, Dixon moved to England in 1963, where he grew up and trained as a designer. After studying at the Chelsea School of Art, Dixon dropped out to follow his instincts and devoted himself to music, joining the funk-disco band Funkapolitan.

This experience opens his eyes to people's needs and pushes him to explore the world of design, where his extraordinary self-taught mindset finds its outlet. His creative vein is expressed in projects ranging from furniture to lighting to home accessories, with particular attention to materials and production techniques. His style is recognizable for its ability to combine contemporary style and tradition, innovation and craftsmanship. Among his most famous works, we find the S-Chair created for Cappellini, an icon of contemporary design, and the Melt, Beat, Mirror Ball, Copper, Spring, Void, Bell, Stone and Cut lamps, produced by his brand Tom Dixon.

Each of these lamps is a work of art in its own right, combining aesthetics and functionality in an original and innovative way. But Dixon doesn't limit himself to creating design objects: his creativity also extends to the design of environments and spaces, where his unique style manages to create unique and suggestive atmospheres.

Among his most important collaborations, we recall the one with Foscarini, for which he designed Lightweight, the chandelier stripped of all decorations, leaving only the skeleton, which combines a contemporary sign and a semi-artisan production process.
