Francisco Gomez Paz

Francisco Gomez Paz is a successful Argentinian designer who has left his mark on the design industry. Born in Salta, Argentina in 1975, Francisco received a degree in Industrial Design from the Universidad Nacional de Cordoba and moved to Milan in 1998 where he attended the Masters in Design at the Domus Academy.In 2004, he opened his own design studio in Milan and since then he has worked with some of the leading design companies such as Artemide, Driade, Danese, Landscape Forms, Lensvelt , Luceplan, Olivetti and Sector among others. His approach to design is based on curiosity, knowledge of technology and materials and a highly experimental creative process. His work has been recognized internationally, receiving awards such as the Good Design Award 2010 and the Red Dot Award 2010 and 2016, as well as the First Prize of the Index Award for the Solar Bottle, also selected for the MOMA Studio Collection and recently received the Award of Design Innovation Awards from the President of the Republic Giorgio Napolitano for the Hope chandelier and the prestigious Compasso d'Oro 2011. Active in the field of research and education, Francisco has been a visiting professor at the Domus Academy since 2000 and has lectured in Italy and abroad. His projects have been exhibited in numerous international events and published by the main design magazines. Francisco currently lives and works in Milan, continuing to create innovative and captivating projects. For the Astep brand, he designed the Candela table lamp, powered by bioethanol, a renewable fuel derived from plants.
