Nika Zupanc

Nika Zupanc is an internationally renowned designer born in Slovenia in 1974. After graduating from the Ljubljana Academy of Fine Arts and Design in 2000, she founded her own design studio in 2008, which quickly gained a worldwide recognition. Her innovative, light and ironic style is inspired by literature, art, music and cinema, creating unique, theatrical and surprising projects, with a strong focus on the feminine and poetic character. Nika Zupanc has collaborated with prestigious design brands such as Moooi, Qeeboo, Sé, Moroso, Natuzzi Italia, Nodus Rug, Ghidini1961, Scarlet Splendour, Contardi Lighting and De Castelli, creating internationally recognized works of art such as the Golden chairs (Moooi ) and Ribbon (Qeeboo), characterized by a soft and ironic design. Furthermore, Nika Zupanc is also involved in creating collections of design objects that she has produced under her own brand. She created the Black Cherry modular lamp, presented during the 2013 Milan Furniture Fair, which combines attractive design and functionality. Throughout her career, Nika Zupanc has designed romantic and extravagant installations, including "I Will Buy Flowers Myself" (2009) and "Gone with the Wind" (2010), which she presented at the Milan Furniture Fair at the spaces by Superstudio Più. She continued with "Selfdiscipline" (2011) and "Summertime" (2012), which marked her debut together with Rossana Orlandi in creating limited edition collections. The Slovenian designer has received numerous international awards and recognitions, including the special prize Salone del Mobile in 2017 for the Longing wardrobe (De Castelli), the prize for best design in 2018 for the Crystal lamp (Contardi Lighting), and the ADA Archiproduct Design Award 2020 for the Deep seating and sofa collection designed for Natuzzi Italia. Her work with Qeeboo led to the creation of the Daisy table lamp as well as the Ribbon chair and the Cherry LED chandelier.
