Gae Aulenti

Pseudonym of Gaetana Aulenti, Gae Aulenti is an Italian designer active in the 50s in the architectural movement known as Neoliberty. From 1955 to 1965, under the direction of Ernesto Nathan Rogers, she worked for the editorial staff of Casabella Continuità. Gaetana Aulenti has been working as an academic assistant to Giuseppe Samonà at the chair of Architectural Composition at the University Institute of Architecture in Venice, and then for Ernesto Nathan Rogers at the chair of Architectural Composition at the Milan Polytechnic. From 1974 to 1979 Gaetana Aulenti became a member of the board of directors of the magazine "Lotus International" and from 1976 to 1978 she worked with Luca Ronconi at the Laboratory of Theatre Design. In 1984 she was appointed correspondent of the Accademia Nazionale di San Luca in Rome, while from 1995 to 1996 she became president of the Accademia di Belle Arti in Brera. For Artemide she designed the Patroclo table lamp with an original design composed of a body in transparent blown glass covered with a metal frame.
